Make a Building Fund Donation

                                                                                            בס"ד

Dear Member,

During the various periods of Corona Lockdown the inside of the Shul premises underwent refurbishment.  The Lobby was decorated and various changes have taken place, including a new electronic noticeboard, which have given it a fresh and bright look.  The Ladies and Gents toilets were upgraded and new lighting was installed.  We were able to carry out this work due to generous donations from members.  Major urgent repairs had to be undertaken on the stained-glass window above the entrance to the Shul and to the Chanukiah on the outside of the building.  These repairs and day to day maintenance were covered by our existing funds.

However, our 27-year-old building urgently needs repairs to the exterior, which has started to crumble and water ingress has already caused damage in the George Goddard Hall.

Click HERE   to see a short video of the condition of the roof and walls.  The work will take up to three months to complete and it must be started before the rainy season.  To enable us to carry out this essential work we now need to look to our members for help.

We have received two quotations one for 160,000 NIS which will cover all the repairs and another for 420,000 NIS for a significant enhancement to the building.  The Board has decided to go with the repair package of 160,000 NIS from “Up and Down”, a company highly recommended by several of our members.

As an Amutah we are not allowed to take out a loan.  So far requests for help to our usual donors, other Shuls, and the Municipality as well as Trust Funds have all been unsuccessful.  The Board has reluctantly decided to ask the members for a voluntary levy of 300 NIS per member, a married couple will be asked for 600 NIS which can be paid over a three-year period if that helps.  If anyone would like to make a larger contribution it would be gratefully received.

We are sorry to ask for a contribution at this time particularly when so many of our members are unable to attend Shul and our overseas members can’t visit Israel, but unfortunately there is no alternative.

We hope that you look on the need for your help favourably as it will ensure the safety of our Shul building.
